Assumption School Advisory Board

The School Advisory Board typically meets one Tuesday of each month except for July. To contact the advisory board, please contact its secretary (Kerry Milani Kerry.milani@gmail.com) or the principal.   

Current members: Robb Bigelow, Sarah Ciochetto, Doug Hildenbrand, Kerry Milani, Nan Sartori, and Anne Marie Wopata. 

Purpose and Functions 

Purpose 

The Board shall help formulate administrative and academic policies for the school. It is the primary advisory body in matters of Catholic school education for the parish and will operate within the policies and guidelines of the Diocese of Duluth. Board decisions and recommendations shall be effective throughout the school community if ratified by the pastor.  

Section 2 – Functions 

The Board serves the pastor, parish and school community to ensure that Assumption Catholic School provides the best possible Catholic environment and education for our children. The specific responsibilities and functions of the Board will be: 

Planning and Policy – Working in conjunction with the Principal and hearing from stakeholders, assist in the development of the school’s Strategic Plan and school policies.  Periodically review the school’s Mission Statement, objectives, and goals.   

Finance – Review the financial performance of the school and advise the staff and Parish Finance Council on the development of the annual School Budget.   

Development – Promote recruitment and development efforts so that a stable or growing student enrollment is achieved. Assist in development of long-range funding sources to maintain stable funding of school programs.  Monitor, approve and coordinate the major school fundraising activities throughout the year.  

Public relations –Collaborate with the principal, parents, pastor, parish and community organizations to create greater support and a better understanding of Catholic education in the wider community. 

Evaluation – Monitor the implementation of policies, including diocesan school policies, in Assumption Catholic School. Each Spring, in conjunction with the school’s staff, evaluate the achievement of school goals.
